Hi, I just recently bought a 1997 Acura TL from a life long friend of mine.

Shortly after buying the vehicle I changed the oil, spark plugs, spark wires, flushed radiator, and even changed the air filter for a peace of mind.

My question is. And it may sound extremely stupid might I add.

I checked to see if my transmission oil was low, so it can be added accordingly.

After checking it, it does seem to be low because I DO NOT SEE any red fluid on the dipstick.
So I decided to add some ATF to the transmission, after adding half a quart I re-check my work.
It still shows LOW again so I proceeded to add in the other half thats left.

Again. After adding the entire bottle of ATF it still doesnt show RED FLUID between the low and high mark on the dipstick.

my odd/stupid question would be. Does this darn transmission wants more OIL?

it did drive and shifted much much better after the entire bottle of ATF was added, but I am scared I might accidently drown the transmission with more than what it needs and ruin the tranny in the end.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I SHOULD ADD MORE. OR NOT. BECAUSE I DO NO SEE ANY AutoTrannyFluid between the low and high mark on the dipstick.

thank you so much fella's,
JL

have a wonderful day all-

Hi. Did you check the level of fluid when your car was cold or hot? Most trans. Require that the trans. Fluid is checked when the vehicle is at operating temperature, and engine on. Try this and it should give you a more accurate reading. Don't over fill if you do you will have to drain some out. Gascap
