2000 Acura RL ABS problem

I have taken my ACURA RL in for brake repairs. So far, the mechanic is having a problem determining what the problem is with my brakes. There seems to be an issue with the ABS system. He indicated that the problem is very unusual for the RL and thinks that he should disconnect the ABS system. He has replaced the master cylinder and made some other brake realted adjustments, but there still seems to be a problem. Is it really okay to drive the car with a deactivated ABS?

Obviously the system is there to assist with better braking. But it is fine to drive without the ABS system engaged. The brakes will function fine. Not sure what the specifics are for the system but I suspect that the ABS light is on. Did he check the wheel sensors as they can fail and do.
