My car kind of jerks when I take off in first gear, it's not like a transmission slip all gears work well car never misses a beat very strong car. Just can't find out what the jerk is. Please help me. Car has had this problem since I got it at 107000.

Hi lennie 1,

Thank you for the donation.

How does the jerking feel like?
Does it jerk when shifting into gear or when accelerating?
Does it happen when shifting into reverse?
Do you have any other issues while driving?

I took my 1993 acura legend for a drive today. I checked on the things you told me to the car does not jerk when I go in reverse. The problem is when I accelerate when I go over or should I say when I hit 10 miles an hour the car jerks. It's just one hard jerk if I push on the gas lightly you do not feel it as bad other than that the car is very strong other wise no problems it can really get on your nerves I want to get looked at but I do not know where to look can you please point me in the right direction. Thank you any more questions please ask.

The symptoms described seems to indicate a fault with the transmission.

The jerk is most probably caused by the trans. Does the D4 light blink while driving?
Does the jerk occur each time while taking off?
Does it happen only when engine is cold or at operating temperature?
Does it happen with hard acceleration?

I am not sure if the assumption of a trans fault is correct as the info provided is not too clear. If you have any other info that you think might help, please let me know.

1993 acura legend, my cars d4 light does not blink never has. You can start the car it will jerk hot or cold it will only jerk one time when the car accelerates to ten miles an hour then you will not feel it again until you stop and accelerate again. I was told if the rack and pinion was bad it would jerk. But it's not the steering wheel jerking. It's like the whole car get's a hard jerk forward the it's fine. My steering is fine very strong and stead. It's not the feeling of a steering wheel being pulled to the side. Please look in to this. Thank you for your time any more questions ask and i'll let you know. It does happen with hard acceleration. And every time I take off the only time it does not do it is when I take off really slow, it probably does it, but I guess you can not feel it if you accelerate slow.

It is not easy to diagnose such faults as we are not able to determine the source of the jerk.

I would suggest checking the thransmission as the symptoms seem to indicate a fault with it.
