AC does not start till.

I will turn AC on (any & all settings) and the compressor will not come on until whenever it gets ready to. When it does start 5- 20 mins. Later it works fine get to 43 degrees as long as it stays running or until I cut te ac off and then it starts from square one. It has 100% brand new fresh freon it too. Please help!

To : mhpautos my bad it is in here somewhere, I put it in at the start and thought it showed it. It is a 2002 Lincoln LS with the 3.9V8

Did you put the correct weight of refregrant in? You may have over filled the system.

Sounds as if it is an an electrical fault, have you power at the A/C clutch when you first turn the system on?
