AC Compressor seized up and Serpentine belt failure + Power Steering fluid reservoir emptied, lost power steering For several months car making a noise like an idler bearing failure upon start up and for approximately 15 minute thereafter. Could not pinpoint the noise however, had a slight rubber smell. Several days ago turned on AC and the noise stopped, however, no cool air. Then yesterday I started the car and there was no noise. Drove approximately 4 miles and the battery alarm and engine alarm came on then I lost power steering capability. Drove back home. The Serpentine belt was shredded and the power steering fluid reservoir was empty with no sign of a major or minor leak and all fluid levels had been checked by lube service 6 weeks ago and I regular check all fluid levels. I would like to bypass the AC compressor for now and replace the serpentine belt until I can afford all that's necessary to restore the AC.

First, make sure it was the compressor and not one of the other pulleys that was going bad. If it is the compressor, you need to purchase an idler pulley designed to replace the compressor. It has to be designed for your specific vehicle.
