I bought a 2011 camaro, drove it 5300 miles. It started surging, rpms racing, making noise, then engine block light comes on. Towed it to dealership, they say no oil, dip stick was dry! What is your opinion, how is this possible?

I hope you had all service done at Dealer. Filter on tight? Drain plug in? See any blue smoke from exhaust?

All done at dealer. No smoke from exhuast, oil light never came on, not a drop on my garage floor, not a drop over engine, engine is still pristine. I think they never put oil in when it was pre-delivery inspection at dealership. Is it possible for me to have driven it this much with just a quart or 2 from factory? I'm thinking my pistons, valves, rings are shot for life.

Not likely you maybe right PDI is likely fault seen it many times. Probably had low oil from factory and after the 5K that smoked you would not be able to tell. Get a meet with owner and GM factory Rep also notify lender of problem

Met with dealership gen. Mgr, they think intake valve could be broken. But doesn't explain where oil went, if indeed it had 6 quarts when I drove it home. Just to clarify, you are saying there will be no way to know if they ever put oil in it?

Maybe a metalergist might but they say intake droped in cylinder and all oil was sucked in well ever watch NASCAR when a car goes up in smoke? That is what would have happened. They are going to warrent and replace engine right?

Thank you for your help. Did u say that u think pistons, rings, etc. Should be fine? They r thinking that all oil is in engine AND they added another 6 quarts. How is that really possible? Needless to say, I am ticked. Am asking for a new camaro, was wanting to keep this car for 30 years. If indeed I ran it with no oil for 5K miles, am thinking I am just in for trouble with this vehicle. Augh! All is under warranty.

Call GM direct look in owners manual call or contact via E-mail The least a new engine is in order. Is there another dealer you could go to? After adding oil does it run? If intake valve broke the piston and block damage also you run an engine without oil till it drops it is shot!
