Is a very very quiet chuging sound normal when a car is first turned on with a cold start? This is a sound heard outside of the car and not heard inside. It is very soft, less than the sound of the engine. Is this normal?

It is hard to tell without hearing it. However, a "chuging" noise is not normal.

What if I say that it is more of a ticking noise. Is that normal?

I think that the noise is more of a ticking. If that is it would that be okay if I am correct? It is very soft.

Also there are no codes. Could you say at least that this can wait until next week to have it checked out by the dealer and I can drive it for the time being?

A ticking could come from many things, even a belt. See if you can locate where the noise is coming from. It could be the belt, an accessory driven item, lifters...
