Th heater in my nephew's Ranger has quit working. I am being told that the "valve" is defective. My question is how hard is it to replace this valve and what is involved?

What valve are they talking about? The heater control valve on the heater hoses going into the heater core?Or a different valve?

If its just the heater control valve on the heater hoses then thats a easy repair you just pinch the hoses off on each side of the valve they sell hose pinch off pliers for that. Then you just undo the clamps and the vacuum line or cable and change it.
