2009 Ford Focus Repair Question

Ford Focus Smell Problem
The car wasnt starting it was making a ticking noise . My husband jump it. And when it started you could smell burning like rubber maybe the cables it was a really strong smell.

check serp belt. there may be a pulley not turning and dragging the belt across it.
