2009 Ford Escape Repair Question

Hybrid system
When i push on a gass wlile the pointer is in the green area of RPM(electric mode) the pointer will move up during acceleration to reach 1 or 2 rpm what persentage of electric and gass engine that involve in this.

did the engine start when this happens?? if it did, then both are working together.
