2008 Toyota Prius Repair Question

I am considering buying a prius but am concerned about replacing the battery that can cost $4000. How many miles can a prius go before the battery needs replacing?
I want to know when a prius battery will need replacing on average. Does it really cost $4000?

yes or whatever the dealer decides to charge as that is about the only place you can get it as well as getting it fixed. look at another car that gets close to same mileage as there are a lot of prius owners sueing Toyota right now due to not getting mileage as stated. but the final decisionis yours
