I am trying to remove the 2 lines (non-electrical, vacuum?) Going to the Canister Purge Solenoid. They appear to have have quick connect clips. How do your remove these 2 lines with these quick connect clips on them? I don't want to damage anything trying to take them off of the solenoid.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hello,

There is a special tool that is used here are diagrams and instructions on how to remove the EVAP lines on your car.

This video will show how to remove the lines. ITs for fuel lines but the connectors are the same.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Recently when I go get gas and go to start the car the car doesn't start right away. The check engine light came on and I got back P0496.I did some research and replaced the Purge Valve Solenoid Canister but the light is still on.

So you replaced the canister purge solenoid that controls the vacuum to the gas tank? Also what size engine do you have?

Its going to be tough to diagnose with a professional scan tool that can command the canister purge valve and vent valve on and off. With the no start after fill up I would be making sure the vent valve is working properly and the vent valve tube isn't clogged. Plus I would see what the fuel tank pressure sensor reads on a scan tool with the gas cap off.

That's a Evap small detected like a loose gas cap bad gas cap etc. The solenoid is on the top passenger side of engine with two hoses going to it and an electrical connector. Unhook a hose and with the key off see if you can blow into the solenoid nipple at all? If you can't then it's probably good.

The solenoid is normally closed when they go bad they typically stick open. Check the gas cap and the solenoid.
