Kia Optima Noise Problem
I have a 2008 Kia Optima that is making a god awful squealing noise. I know the front brake pads need to be replaced. I have searched the internet high and low, and am in need of guidance on how to replace the front pads. Is this a simple job, or should I resign to having a mechanic perform the repair?

Thank you, I reviewed the article and found a lot of information. I'm assuming the noise I'm hearing is the wear indicators, but how will I know if the rotors will need to be replaced?

Check the surfaces of the rotors. If they are smooth, you need not do anything with them. Check the edges for the amount of wear. If they run too deep, the rotor might be too thin and requires replacement. Measuring them would be the best idea.
