I have a 2008 Hyundai Sonata 4 cylinder GLS: 65,000 miles. My check engine light is on and the car dies while driving and idling. Everything shuts down and the steering wheel wheel locks up, but the power is just fine. It will start back up but dies unless I can somehow get it in gear and drive it a few feet and then it dies again. But if I wait about 30 mins to an hour to start the car it starts up and will drive without dying, but the engine shakes, and kind of sounds like its putting. Ive tried a few locations to get a check on it but was informed that I have to take it to the dealership, but all of them have said it has something to do with the idle.
Engine has been replace before at the dealership due to water damage, and shortly after car always smelled like gas...had to take back to get fuel line or something adjusted.
