I need an easy way to disable my vehicle so my 19-year-old can't drive it. Is there a way to do this? On older cars all you had to do was pull the distributor cap but I don't know what to do now.

Look for a fuel pump fuse that you can remove. You can also replace it with a blown fuse. Another fuse may be listed as "Engine Computer", "ECM", or something like that. That will do it too but that should be your last choice. The computer learns a table of values called the short-term fuel trim, (STFT), and long-term fuel trim, (LTFT). You'll never notice when that memory is lost and the table gets rebuilt while you're driving, but it is possible for other things to be lost from memory. Some computers won't know when they have to be in control of idle speed until "minimum throttle" is relearned. That can cause hard starting or stalling at stop signs. If a diagnostic fault code has been stored, that will be lost.

You can also remove a fuel pump relay or an ignition relay.
