This is a 4 clyl not a 6. Car started shaking while driving then lost steering. Service light came on to service power steering. Could this be a sensor, fuse or is it the pump? Continued to drive it to get it home, shut it off and now it is working fine. Could it be going out?

There is a electric motor mounted on the steering column for your power steering. You need to have a professional scan tool that can read all the computers in your car read the codes in the power steering control module. Let me know the exact code numbers you have not descriptions? I would have a full scan done on all your computers. It might even take the scan to to diagnose the problem depending on the codes. Mist likely its a bad steering motor.A diyer or auto parts store free scan can't read those computers.
