Volkswagen Rabbit Alternator Problem
How long or rather how many labor hours on average does it take to replace an alternator?
The mechanic quoted me $290 for an alternator and another $200 in labor...this seems high based on my research - please advise.

Labor can run from a little over an hour to an hour and a half. With parts the range for the estimate is, $500-$800. So, you are getting a good deal.
