After service on 2007 VW Passat 3.6 engine, how do I get 'service interval light' to turn off?

I use a scan tool at work (which is the best way to do it) but I think
the owners manual lists a "button" procedure similar to the Jetta
A5 model platform.

Try this:

- Ignition OFF
- Hold down the wrench button in the dash
- Turn on the ignition (push in key till lights come on, engine off)
- You should see "Service Now" in dash
- Release wrench button that you have been holding
- Press and release the the min button next to hr button
- Turn off the ignition

Let me know if that worked.
