What should I get repaired if the diagnostic code is P2181?

What model? And what motor? Turbo or non-turbo? Anyway you could have a bad thermostat or a bad coolant temperature sensor. It would be a good idea to replace both because this vehicle has a history of failure for these parts.

It an 07 jetta 2.5, wolfburg edition, non turbo. I've trying to just do the research. The sensor does sound familiar.
