Saturn Vue Greenline noise when accelerating

I have a 2007 Saturn Vue Greenline hybrid, 61500 miles. It's making a noise when accelerating. It's a whining/electronic sounding noise. It happens only when accelerating? Do you have any idea what this could be? If it's powertrain I think it's under warranty. Thanks

Electronic noises or noises in general should really be looked at as it's very hard to diagnose a problem like this on the computer. It could be an alternator problem radiating through the radio though.

Just to add to this one. Does the assist gauge on the dash show it in assist mode when you hear the noise?Because the alternator acts as a starter when the car shuts off at idle and restarts automaticly in eco mode. It also helps you excellerate to cut down on fuel consumption so that could be making noise. Best to just take it in to have it looked at. Please let us know what they find.

Saturntech9, I don't think any gauge is lighting up. I took it to Firestone yesterday and they said the pully and belt tensioner are causing the noise ($500 estimate. Ouch!). We may take it to the dealer tomorrow to get their opinion. We'll let you know what they say. Thanks

The dash lights are inop?Have you checked the dimmer switch to make sure it's not turned down?Also when you turn on your head lights does your rear running/parking lights come on?I would get a second look on that one at the dealer. Keep me posted.
