I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 V6 I think 3.6L vehicle that sounds like a grinding or scraping sound from the engine bay area anytime the vehicle is at around 1200 RPM. From an amateur point of view and listening to the engine while the hood is up and my friend reving the engine it seems to the noise is coming from the right side/passenger side of the engine near the bottom of it maybe below the belt assy. Has anyone had any experience with this? Also at times my low oil pressure indicator goes off, which I am not sure if that's related. Any help would be awesome.

On that side of the engine are all the belt driven accessories. Try this, remove the serp belt and start the engine to see if the noise is gone. It could be a bearing in the water pump, alternator, PS pump. Let me know what you find.

NOTE: When you remove the belt, only allow the engine to run for a few seconds. Run it just long enough to see if the noise is gone.
