Nissan Pathfinder Sensor Problem

I noticed the other day the foot light on the driver side was on when I went to turn it off, it would not go off. It was very cold out so I thought maybe the touch sensor to turn it off was frozen. A few hours later I got back in the car and was able to touch the senor at the light went off. I got into the car the next day and the light was in again and I was unable to shut it off. Today I got in and both lights were on, driver and passanger. I was able to shut off the passanger side but not the driver. The control for the lights is in front the gear shifter and is a blue light when on and a red light when off. It is a touch sensor that you just tap to turn them on and off. Any ideas what could be the problem? Thank you.
