I have a 2007 nissan murano and the transfer case needs to be replaced. What's the possibility the problem won't occur again or have other problems in that area

It's always a possibility. I would ask the mechanic why it went bad. I would also have them inspect the whole drivetrain to see if there is anything else going on that is causing problems.
Be sure they replace it with a good one.
