2007 Mercury Montego, when on Reverse going to Drive the motor accelarates and when on Drive going to Reverse the motor accelarates as well it feels like it makes a quick jump. how can we get this fix? going on a road trip is this something that must get fix?

Try cleaning the idle air control valve and see what happens
