2007 Mercedes Benz ML350 Repair Question

Mercedes tailgate will close but not latch
If I press the tailgate button, use my keyless remote, or manually try to close the back tailgate, it does close but will not latch.

Is the latch electronic? If so, check the fuse, relay, and wiring. If the latching mechanism is adjustable, loosen the bolts that secure it and slide the latch outward so it engages the tongue earlier.
