While driving lost all power and drifted to the side of the highway. After having it towed to my mechanic, he said that the starter was melted, and the battery was dead. He replaced both, but could not find the reason this happened. This was a month ago. Last night my Compass did the exact same thing. Only difference was that I made it to my driveway. engine was smoking (white), and had a rubbery kind of smell. I can not afford to have this become a regular thing, any idea's.
