The EPS warning light came on on the weekend and I have no power steering. Took it in for a $200 diganostic check and the mechanics said they saw these codes: C1259-Steering Angle sensor-electrical, C1604-ECU Brake System hardware error, C1704-Fail safe relay-fail, and
Because of the brake code they have to replace the entire steering column BEFORE anymore diagnoses can be done.
Is this true? As a single working mother you can imagine my horror when I found out just the steering column part was $2400, not including labor.

Doesn't Hyundai warranty for 100, 00 mile s or 10 yrs? That code has to be cleared then tested again if it comes up again then the column needs to be replaced. There ae always junkyards however if you can find one the second one can be a abs unit fail your braeks will still work just no antilock feature. I wold call Hyundai on this one and see if they will do anything but thought those cars had 10 yr 10k warranty
