2007 GMC Acadia Repair Question

Started up truck tonight and the parking brake light stayed on and the chimes kept going off and the parking assist off message was displayed.
The problem just started at 1800 hours on Thursday, October 13, 2011. Got into vehicle after work and the parking brake light remained on even though the parking brake was not engaged. Drove it home approx. 26 miles the light remained on and chimes kept going off and the infomation center on the dash displayed the message parking asssist off.

Check to make sure the switch on the parking brake assembly is properly adjusted and not disconnected.
