I have a 2007 Chrysler 300 with a 2.7L V6. Three days ago I started my car and it was idiling very rough and immediately threw a code. I put it in drive to see if it got worse and it did. I plugged my OBDII reader in and a cylinder 4 injector code came up. I cleared it, I was on 1/4 tank so I added some injector cleaner and filled up my tank. (Premium) then the next day on my second start of the day the same thing happened but it threw a #4 injector circuit code. I cleared it. Yesterday on my 4th start it started acting up again and threw a P0304 so cyl. 4 misfire and a fuel injector code then after 5 minutes of driving I pulled into a parking spot and my car died. So could I have oil sludge causing low oil pressure making my car die and the sludge also making it misfire? But why would it only affect one cylinder? There's no starting trouble, knocking or running hot. Should I check my upstream O2 sensor? I know I need to replace my coils because it's just that time so is it a good idea to swap companion cylinder coils and see if they're actually misfiring or put a multimeter and test the primary and secondary? I replaced my spark plugs about 700 miles ago (Champion Platinum). Oil changed two days ago (synthetic blend- never used full syn. So there's been no going back and forth). Mainly, I just don't understand that even if it was just an injector/coil combo why would one dead cylinder make my engine loose all power and not just run off 5? Sorry for the paragraph I'm just a hypercondriac when it comes to my car. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

If you do have a sludged up engine, that will cause some serious internal issues in the future and there is no good way to resolve that except start changing the oil more frequently. Don't attempt to use any chemicals to clean that as it will cause even more problems.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I came up with the sludge idea for Chrysler's 2.7 engines being notorious for sludge.

Hi Lydia,

This does sounds like you are having a problem with the injector but I want to ask if the plugs are OEM replacements becasue these engine are sensitive to plugs that do not fit the heat range. Here are some guides to help you confirm the problem and get it fixed.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-an-ignition-system

This guide will help you test the injector

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-fuel-injector

Here is an idea of what it will be like to change it out

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-a-fuel-injector

The diagram below will show what replacing the injector will be like on your car.

Lightly lubricate the fuel injector O-rings with a couple drops of clean engine oil. Install retaining clips on fuel injectors. Push injectors into fuel injector rail until clips are in the correct position. Position fuel rail over cylinder head, and push rail into place. Tighten fuel rail mounting bolts to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.) torque. Connect fuel supply tube quick connect fittings at the rear of intake manifold. Connect electrical connectors to fuel injectors. Install intake manifold plenum. Connect negative cable to battery. Use the scan tool to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks.

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

I have a problem. My car has been idling rough and sometimes stalling at stops but usually starts right back up. I have replaced all spark plugs and cleaned the throttle body. I am newly divorced with two young kids. I can't afford to take it to Chrysler but can't afford for it to die either. Help!
