do you suggest a rack for changing front passenger cv boot?

Hello,

It will make the task easier if you are able to use a lift. But you do not have to use one.
You can just jack up the vehicle and use jack stands to secure it. You will need to remove the wheels and few other suspension component to remove the CV shaft. This job can be done using basic hand tools.

Volkswagen does recommend changing out the complete CV shaft for this Passat.
