2006 Mini Cooper Repair Question

Mini Cooper Limp mode Problem
My RPMs are at the 3500 to 4000 when I am on the freeway at 50 mph. I am in the D drive and not the M/S. It is does not seem to shifting. When I am driving on the streets under 40 mph its fine. Please advise

have the car scanned for fault codes ..it may have gone into limp mode
