I was at the end of a 20 mile trip and when i put the car into reverse it made a rattling noise. i then put it in drive and it made the same noise. i
I was at the end of a 20 mile trip and when i put the car into reverse it made a rattling noise. I then put it in drive and it made the same noise. I could rev the engine but the car would not move. Even in park it would sit and rattle. I have not noticed any transmission or mechanical problems of any kind prior to this. What could it be?

Check the transmission fluid level and condition, inspect flexplate, overall here have the transmission further diagnosed by a transmission specialist-
