Can a hydraulic roller lifter re-gain prime and slowing lose prime while engine is running & re-gain prime at restart?

I have a miss in cylinder 1 and have changed the spark plugs, wires, coil pack, and even the intake gasket and still has a miss. there is a ticking noise coming from around the cylinder 1 area. this happened just all the sudden one day while driving the car and didnt seem gradual. i have checked all the fuel injectors and they all spray fuel equally. Since it has a ticking noise could that be a lifter losing prime and worn out? Could a lifter with no prime mess the lobe up on the cam?

yes to all. a lifter can collapse and pump up as well. if it is, i suggest replacing the lifter in question as it is causing an driveability issue.
