car does everything but wont start

I have checked battery and fuses. Starter won't even click. Check engine light stays on and the security light goes out.

As it turns out, a rat or mouse chewed through a wire leading to a transmission sensor. The sensor is directly below the air filter housing. Difficult to see. Local Ford dealer found it and repaired it. Car runs fine now. Thanks for the help.

My car would click when trying to turn it over but it would sometimes start and other times not. Thinking it was a starter, I took it to a local shop and they did not find any issues like this. I was told a specific code came up and I need to go to the dealership. They said I needed an instrument cluster because it was malfunctioning and triggering my anti theft system and my keys were not reading. $1000 and 5 days later I got my car back only for it to start doing the same thing as before 2 days later. Now they want me to bring it back and probably charge me more money.

the ma need to reset the security system. but try this, if you have an assistant when it does this hit body of starter with a hammer or like object if it starts you probably need a starter. Also get eth battery checked for condition including load test.

I had to starter and alternator checked before I went to dealership. All checked out good including battery which I got 3 months ago. They reset the security system first and then when the car kept doing the same thing they replaced the instrument cluster.

tey are going to need to rescan it first to see what is wrong with security system then

2006 Ford Fusion 6 cyl Automatic 65,000 miles

Six months ago car wouldnt start without jumpstart in the morning after it rained.Clicking noise when key is turned. But jumpstart with cables it starts right away. Battery tested okay. It has happened about 3 times now again in past month. Battery BatteryPlus said battery should still be good for that year car and it tested okay again today. What could be the problem. Thank.

Are the battery terminals clean, tight, and not corroded? Have you checked the ground on the engine block to make sure it is tight and clean?

using cables jumped started a car and now my car will not start. When I try to start my car all I get is a click, click sound. The lights, horn and everything works good just will not start. What should I do?

This car has experienced several failures to start. Each time when the key was turned on dash condition lights came on, lights work, radio works, but when key was advanced to turn starter no response at all. On most attempts the car will start after some delay minutes/hours. When taken to deliver by the time it is towed in the car will start and provide no error code for computer. Last failure was on a Saturday towed to dealer that was able to experience the fact that it would not start but by the time the tech came in on Monday it was starting again with no code. They have held it for two weeks and can not duplicate the problem so offer no solution? Any thoughts would be welcome. Thank you

could be neutral safety switch or ignition switch?

Has your tech looked at a possible starter/connection problem, I,m not sure but I can remember some fords used a quick disconnect connection on the ignition wire at the starter (little wire) that caused alot of intermittent no crank conditions, the fix I used was to solder that quick connect to the ignition post of the starter. The new starters that come for the cars came redesigned with a wire that is bolted to the starter with a ring eyelet on the wire instead of a quick connect. This was usaully found by having someone in the car cranking while wiggiling that quick connect. I guess without looking at the car that would be something to consider.
