I have a 2006 ford escape. It is auto transmission. I had been having problems with it dying when you came to a stop. Then that just stopped and now I cant get it to shift into any gear. Is this my transmission? Someone said it may be my shift cable. Can you help?

Is it stalling? If it is, it may be a vacuum leak or a faulty idle air control motor.

No that has stopped now it wont shift into any gear. Are the two related? What do you think is causing my car not to shift?

Ok, did not see that in the post. If it wont engage any gear. You may have a failed torque converter or a failed front pump. Either way. It will have to come out and most likely re built.

No, I dont believe they are related.
