I didn't check the oil level. I just know that it was leaking oil because the oil filter was not put on properly. As I was driving it the oil warning light came on. Sadly, I made the mistake of continuing to drive the van thinking I was close to the house I will check it when I got home. I didn't make it to the house. The engine just stopped running a 1/8 of a mile from the house. I thought I might have run out of gas. But even after adding gas it wouldnt start. I got it towed to my house. After some checking I noticed the oil filter was loose that must have cause the oil mess under the car. I refilled the oil and made sure the filter was tight. But it still would not start.

Are saying I have to replace the whole engine? If so, can you give an estimated cost of parts n labor?
