Chevrolet Impala Engine Problem
What can be wrong when my temperature gauge doesn't work and my code says engine hot a/c off?

First, check the temperature sending unit. It may be bad. As far as the overheating, you need to have it checked to see if it is actually overheating or getting a false signal from the sending unit.
