Oil light flashed on Dec 20th. No oil on dipstick. Added 3 qts, still low, next day added 2 more qts to reach full level. One week later (200 miles) added 2 more quarts to reach full level. No leaks in driveway and I see no smoke from tailpipe. Mechanic told me I have an internal oil leak and it will cost $1200 to fix.

Sounds Fishy if oil leaks internal then it would be in engine not going away. Oil must be going into combustion chamber and being burnt. Suspect Positive Crankcase Ventilation system either PCV valve or separator. Is this Dealer? Would recomend a second opinion
