2005 Volvo 940 Repair Question

Volvo 940 starts but then shuts down almost immediately
Our volvo 940 Regina ignition.starts uut immediately shuts down. It will not keep running and will repeat this.

check IAC valve. also if you put gas pedal down can you make it stay running?
