Overheating

My 2005 mini cooper s runs hot while in traffic, when I turn the a/c it seems to help or if I start driving again. Sometimes it will spike a little while driving then cool down. Coolant level is ok the warning lights have never come on

Check and test the thermostat and the water pump -start here electric fan coming on?

Seems only to come on when the a/c is running, the tempe gauage has always ran in the 12 oclock postion

Check and test the coolant temperature sensor and radiator fan relay

Ok, thank you sounds like I should take it to a mini dealer. I bought the car used and this first trouble I have had in 2 years so I can't complain.
