Starter whirs
I have a 2005 Merc. Sable with 3.0 24 Valve DO
HC eng.
Repalced starter 1 yr ago. Ever since starter whirs sometimes instead of starting car. Turning key several times finaly connects and starts car. Do I need adjustment or new starter?

Sounds like the starter overrunning clutch is slipping -double check battery and starter motor connections
