My nephew has a 2005 Mazda Tribute that he blew the engine up. I thought I bought the same motor but it turned out to be a 2007 2.3 out of a Mazda 6 the cam gears are not the same timing chain is different so I'm not able to switch the cams because the timing clogs, chain are different. Would I be able to take the intake cam off of his and switch the gear to match the newer one?

Not recommended. The lobe tolerances are different.

We only recommend direct fit parts. I can't say what is needed to make it work.
