The EGR check engine light, issue. This is a very common problem with the Liberty CRD. Do you know any fixes for this problem?

How do I clean out the EGR?

This is a common issue on these vehicles because the EGR valve and air control valve get stuck due to soot in the system.

The most common cause of it is the fact that they are not taken out on the highway and run hard for long enough so that the soot gets hot that is in the EGR system and actually put back through the engine.

So when they are driven around town the soot that is a natural byproduct of the diesel combustion, gets caught up in the EGR system and cause them to stick.

I would recommend removing them and cleaning them using an EGR cleaning product that is available at any part stores. Then make sure you are taking it out on the highway on a regular basis so that they can get hot and blown out.

Take a look at the info below and let us know if you have other questions. Thanks
