Hi, I have a 2005 Honda CRV that makes a high pitched squeaking sound, only while the ac is running and the car is idle, no other time. I'm thinking it is the air compressor (I've been reading about the black death online), if we replace the air compressor, will that fix the problem?

More than likely replacing it will fix the problem. One thing you might try first is having the system evacuated and recharged and have the oil changed. AC systems actually carry an oil in the system which flows through the compressor. It is critical to add the right amount so usually the oil never gets changed or added. So, to change it you have to drain the system. It might not fix it but it might be worth a try. In the least make sure to use the right amount of oil when replacing the compressor.
