I have a Honda Civic 1.7 CDTi, 2005. I get a yellow coil light coming on on the dash board, at which point I lose all power and have to wait 15-30 minutes until I can get the car running again.

This can happen every few hours, or not for 2 weeks, but it is getting beyond a joke at this stage. I took it to a dealership who put it on their computer, but were only able to tell me that it was to do with engine performance, and it will cost me more for them to find out what exactly it is.

Everyone seems to have a different theory, but I feel they just want me to pony up more money for their advice.

Any help or advice you have on this matter is very much appreciated.

That light is universal for the glow plugs in diesel speak. That light should come on when the vehicle is cold and keyed on to heat the combustion chamber. If its coming on while your driving then there may be a problem with the glow plug module or even engine temp being to cold.
