Hi I own a TM barina 2011 model and the gear knob is a bit faded and worn so I would like to replace it but I don't know how to is it possible to remove it? I only want to remove the knob and replace it with something better.

I am sure that they screw off but they are normally glued on and not meant to be removed easily. Back up the shaft with some vise grips for both the knob and shaft and it will come off counter clockwise.

Thanks for the answer but if I want to get it removed could I just take it to a local dealer and get them to remove it?

Any mechanic should be able to get it off.

Hi there,
My gear stick knob has been in the sun to long and the plastic around it is falling off piece by piece and I'm wanting to change it but I'm unsure how to change it or if any knob can fit on there. It's different to other cars when it goes to reserve as you have to lift a platform thing under the knob.
Thankyou

Hey Maddie059,

Disconnect the negative battery cable Fig 1: Lifting Console Cover Upward Position the gearshift lever into NEUTRAL. Disconnect the boot from the console cover. Lift the console cover upward to expose the shift control lever mechanism. Rotate the gear shift lever stop clamp and remove it.

Fig 2: Gearshift Lever Stop Clamp Remove the gearshift lever from the gearshift lever shaft.

Please let us know what you find so it will help others.

Best, Ken
