You need to find out what is missing. Where is the smoking coming from? Hope you have not overheated the engine to cause it to stall instead of running out of gas as you thought.

it is smoking from the it looks like the top of the engine i dont think it overheated i was real low on gas tried to make it home it didnt start smoking till i tried to start it a few times after i put gas in it

It could be the starter cables that is overheating and producing the smoke if you had been cranking the starter for extended periods.
