Ford F-250 Engine Problem

I need to have the engine oil pump replaced. Parts cost very little. Mechanic tells me he must remove the engine. Labor takes cost est up to $2200. Does this sound reasonable?

It's reasonable on a Ford, not on any other car brand. Usually the engine doesn't have to be completely removed. It just has to be lifted high enough to allow the oil pan to be removed over the cross member.

What are the symptoms? Most people assume the oil pump is the cause of low oil pressure but that's rarely true. It's almost always due to worn engine bearings, but even that isn't common at the mileage you listed.
