I was driving my ford f250sd pickup at about 30 mph and the engine died and the check engine light came on. I then put the pickup in park shut the key off and started the engine again and the light was off. What would cause the engine to just shut off like that?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis,finding out what's going on.
