2005 Dodge Ram stereo/head unit

I am going to get my bf an aftermarket stereo for his ram. I don't want to ask him for the owners manual without making him suspicious. I dont know the dimensions that I have to work with. I tried looking online by I don't get a straight answer; can you guys help me?

To be honest, you are going to need an adapter that will accept the radio you purchase and is designed to bolt into the truck. The opening for the present radio is much bigger than anything you will purchase. I would have to measure one to get the exact size, but I know this is the common way of replacement.
